Charges
The primary duties of a trustee are to provide strategic guidance and oversight of the programs and services administered by the ASRT Foundation, serve as an ambassador for the ASRT Foundation and assist with fundraising activities for the ASRT Foundation. Trustees should be willing and able to provide a meaningful financial contribution to the ASRT Foundation each year they serve as a trustee.
Duties
- Determine the organization’s mission and vision through strategic planning.
- Provide proper financial oversight, which includes reviewing and approving annual budgets, periodic financial statements, investment policy, the audit and 990.
- Make a financial contribution to the Foundation at a personally significant level.
- Identify, attract and cultivate funding resources to ensure the financial viability of the Foundation and its programs.
- Ensure legal and ethical integrity and maintain accountability.
- Recruit new Board members and mentor new Board members as assigned by the chair.
- Appoint Foundation committee members and leadership.
- Review Foundation bylaws on a four-year cycle and make changes as necessary.
- Review and implement additional policies as needed.
- Determine, monitor and strengthen the organization’s programs and services, assess them against the strategic plan and mission, and recommend new programs when appropriate.
- Serve as an ex officio liaison to Foundation committees as appointed.
Time Commitment:
Trustees can expect to spend fewer than five hours per month answering emails, reviewing documents and working with ASRT Foundation staff.
Travel Commitment
Trustees are expected to attend all Board of Trustees meetings at the ASRT office. Trustees should expect to spend approximately six days per year traveling for the Foundation. These travel days occur during the week and on weekends. Attendance at Foundation special events throughout the year in conjunction with ASRT meetings is desired.
Skills
Trustees should be comfortable speaking and presenting to large groups, be knowledgeable of ASRT Foundation programs and services and able to build collaborative relationships.
Criteria
Board of Trustee appointees shall meet the following requirements:
- ASRT voting member
- Minimum of master’s degree, doctorate preferred
- Minimum experience of 5 years as a radiologic science or radiation therapy educator
- Prior grant recipient or first author of a peer-reviewed publication.
- Preference given for a history of volunteerism and involvement with the Foundation.
